for
PC104 bus
|
LEOMATIC P50-104
card allows to connect any
SYSTEM5
family module to a PC104 system.
Suitable for any PC104 system, it has 2 CANBus ports on which
may be connected any module of SYSTEM5
family.
You can
fit the P50-104 on the PC104 bus, while Leomatic
SYSTEM5
modules may be placed along the machine (according to
a long-distance distributed architecture).
A DSP
microprocessor at 400 MHz grants very fast communications with
Leomatic modules, relieving PC104 CPU from polling time.
Leomatic
supplies P50-104 cards with a free-of-charge software library,
which contains
procedures/methods allowing to handle all of hardware resources of
SYSTEM5 modules and to realize easily a
control software for the specific application on the PC104 CPU.
The
on-board
firmware, stored on Flash memory, may be changed
(downloaded) through a dedicated software tool.
It is possible to ask Leomatic
for a customized Firmware version.

• The
on-board firmware can work in 2 different ways:
• Forwarding:
P50-104 acts like a simple bridge between the
PC104 CPU and all the Leomatic SYSTEM5 modules connected via a CANBus
network. Control software of PC104 CPU can access any connected
module through this bridge.
• Front-End:
P50-104 acts like a intelligent front-end,
polling all the Leomatic SYSTEM5
modules connected via CANBus network and presenting their refreshed
images to the PC104 CPU.
Control software of PC104 CPU can read/write the resources of all
connected modules accessing only the P50-104 card; this relieves
very much the work of the PC104 CPU.
• The
third CANBus port is dedicated to service functions, available
through a software tool (supplied free-of-charge), such as:
- download of the on-board firmware of P50-104 and/or of any
connected module;
- test / diagnostic of P50-104 and/or of any connected module.
• In
case of malfunctions, you may activate a special
boot firmware, stored on
a protected page of flash memory.
It grants a
recovery startup: some functions are reduced but the Leomatic
protocol on
third CANBus port
is fully operative, so you can run the
software tool in order to download the on-board firmware or to test
the card itself.
