P51 is an embedded
CPU, based on AMD Am186CU microprocessor at 48 MHz, especially
designed by
Leomatic for its real-time control systems based on
SYSTEM5
modules.
It acts like a PLC and a CNC
together, so allowing the complete control
over an
automatic machine or line.
On board resources: RAM,
FLASH memory, 2 serial and 2 USB ports.
These communication ports, configurable and versatile, make P51 an
ideal front-end for
connections with external devices, such as
host PC
and/or User's Panels.
P51 may be connected to the other
SYSTEM5
modules by mean of a parallel bus (local) or in a CANBus
network architecture (remote).
Local connections need a low-cost 20 pins flat-cable (very
compact);
remote connections need a simple twisted pair (very reduced
wiring).
The control logic (PLC) is totally user-programmable; it has
instructions to handle any resource (hardware and firmware internal
variables) of the connected
SYSTEM5
modules, included commands for motor-axes.
Leomatic
supplies P51 modules with a free-of-charge software suite,
including technical manuals, which allows a quick and easy
development of a custom software for a Windows PC.
A
programmer may use the procedures/methods of the Dll,
or directly include some of the ActiveX supplied; he may so handle
all of hardware resources and/or realize a software user's interface
for the specific application.
The software
suite also includes the following utilities:
- Automation Builder: a PLC programmer
to edit/compile/download a PLC control logic;
- PncTool: a supervising tool
to configure/inspect/test the whole PNC
system or any of its modules.

•
Embedded multi-tasking scheduler with the following
tasks:
• PLC:
executes a
logic PLC,
totally user-programmable on a standard PC and the SW utility
Automation Builder
• CNC:
work-cycles in ISO language, allowing interpolations up to 6
motor-axes together.
• Data
and parameters storing: machine data, user data, recipes, electronic
cams, work-cycles, ...
• Data
exchange with the other SYSTEM5 modules and with external devices (host
PC and/or User's Panel), by mean of selectable protocols: LEOMATIC
BPMU or XFer, MODBUS RTU, MEWTOCOL, user definable under PLC
control, ...
• Machine
status monitoring.
• Test
and diagnostic functions, also in run-time, for on-field technical
assistance with a standard PC and the SW utility PncTool
• The
on-board
firmware, stored on Flash memory, may be changed
(downloaded) also on-field through a standard PC and the SW utility PncTool
• In
case of malfunctions, you may activate a special
boot firmware, stored on
a protected page of flash memory.
It grants a
recovery startup: some functions are reduced but the Leomatic
protocol on
third CANBus port
is fully operative, so you can run the
software tool in order to download the on-board firmware or to test
the card itself.
• P51
CPU, once configured, at each start-up will send automatically all
application data to the other SYSTEM5 modules.
This feature allows a very easy replacement of a damaged module,
because it doesn't need any preliminary configuration but the
setting of the on-board dip-switches (they must be the same
as the replaced module).
• It is possible to ask
Leomatic for a customized Firmware version,
even if a new communication protocol is needed.

AMD186CU microprocessor at 48 MHz
•
On-board memory:
•
512 kbyte of volatile RAM
•
512 kbyte of retentive RAM
•
2 Mbyte of FLASH (to store the
on-board firmware
and application data)
• Parallel
bus (10 MByte/s)
for high-speed local connection to
other
SYSTEM5
modules with the same bus
(P53S,

for connections to
other
SYSTEM5
modules or to external devices (host PC and/or User's Panel).
The signals of different electrical level are carried out on
different clips/pins.
• 2 USB
ports for connections to: host PC, User's Panel, service PC.
• P51 may be connected to other
SYSTEM5
modules by mean of a parallel bus (local) or in a CANBus
network architecture (remote).
• It's
possible to
realize
multi-CPU systems (up to 32 P51 modules on a same network,
under one only host device).
